Harvey's Butchers · Market Street, Ludlow

Three generations, one chopping block.

67years of Harveys
behind the counter

Albert started it, Frank moved it into town and Lucy runs it now. The beef still comes from the same farm, eleven miles away.

Beef from the back door of Hollow Farm

Albert Harvey raised Hereford cattle and sold the beef from the farm kitchen on Saturdays. People lined up down the lane with their own plates.

    1983The second generation · Frank

A stall at the harbor market

Frank took the meat to town, to a Saturday stall by the slipway, and learned to talk to every customer by name. He still comes in on Fridays to make the sausages.

  3. A risograph drawing of a family butcher's shop on a cobbled street, with a red and navy striped awning, sausages and hams hanging in the window, a man on a bench outside and a bicycle

    TodayThe third generation · Lucy

    The shop on Market Street

Lucy trained under her dad, then took over the shop in 2016. Same farm, same sausage recipe, and the Saturday line is back down the street.
