Release notes 4.12
v4.12.0Minor releaseNo action needed
By Tomas Reid, product lead · 4 min read
4.12 brings scheduled releases, review links you can share before you publish, and twenty-three fixes. Nothing in this release changes how your existing projects work.
Scheduled releases Added
Until now a release went out the moment you pressed Publish. Many of you asked to line up the notes the evening before and have them go out at a set time, usually first thing in the morning for your users.
In 4.12 every draft has a Schedule button next to Publish. Pick a date and time, and Releasely publishes the notes, sends the email digest and updates your changelog page at that moment. Times follow your project's time zone, which you can change in Project settings.
You can change or cancel a scheduled release until it goes out. If a release cannot publish, for example because your changelog page is offline, we try three more times over ten minutes and then email the project owners.
Scheduling works from the command line too:
$ releasely publish --draft 4.12.0 --at "2026-11-10 09:00"
✓ Scheduled 4.12.0 for Mon 10 Nov, 09:00 (Europe/London)
Cancel any time: releasely unschedule 4.12.0
Review links Added
Drafts now have a private review link. Anyone with the link can read the draft and comment on a line without an account, so the support team can check the wording before your users see it. Links stop working after seven days, or when the release is published.
Comments sit beside the line they belong to, and you get one email when a reviewer has finished, not one for every comment. Resolve a comment and it leaves the draft, but it stays in the draft's history.
Review links are on for every project. Owners can turn them off in Project settings if drafts must stay inside the team.
Changed 3
- The editor now saves every five seconds instead of every thirty.
- Drafts are listed by when they were last edited, newest first.
- The email digest uses your project's accent color for links.
Fixed 23
- Links inside bullet points lost their underline in the email digest.
- Very long version names ran out of the sidebar on small screens.
- Pasting a table from a spreadsheet added an empty first row.
- The changelog page showed the wrong date for releases published just after midnight.
- Keyboard focus was lost after closing the image dialog.
The other eighteen are smaller, and all listed on the full changelog.
Upgrading
Hosted projects are already on 4.12. If you run Releasely on your own server, update the package and restart it; there are no database changes in this release.
The new --at option needs version 2.8 or later of the command-line tool. Older versions keep working for everything else.
Coming next
We are working on release notes in more than one language, starting with French, German and Spanish. If you would like to try it early, reply to any digest email and we will add your project to the test group.
Every release, in full, with the date it shipped and the fixes it carried.
