Kit Moreland Photography · Penzance

Four jobs, four kinds of light.

I photograph places, people and products for small businesses in Cornwall. Here are four jobs from this year, painted from my notebook, with what each one asked of me.

The Lizard, at dusk

Hotel brochure · March 2026 · 3 evenings

A hotel on the Lizard wanted one picture of its cliffs for the cover. I went back three evenings in a row and waited for the cloud to lift. On the third night it did, for eleven minutes, and the cover was made in four of them.

A potter, by her window

Portraits · St Just · half a day

No studio lights: only the north window of her workshop and a reflector to lift the shadows. We made twelve portraits for her new website before the light went flat.

Market day, in the rain

Town guide · Truro · 1 day

The town council asked for real streets, not sunny ones. Rain gave me reflections, umbrellas and people in a hurry. Forty pictures went into the guide.

Fruit, for a greengrocer

Products · my studio · 2 days

Two soft lights, one bowl and a lot of patience. Sixty products on a plain table, each one lit the same way, so the shop's website looks like one family.

Shoots from $350 for half a day, with edited pictures in a week.
