Accessibility statement

In plain words

  • Most of this website works with a keyboard, a screen reader and zoom up to 400%.
  • Three things do not work well yet. We list them below, with the date each will be fixed.
  • If anything stops you, ring us and we will help the same day.

1About this statement

This statement covers harbourmuseum.example and the ticket pages it links to. We want everyone to be able to plan a visit, buy a ticket and explore the collection online, whatever device or settings they use.

2What works

  • Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus ring.
  • Text can be zoomed to 400% without anything being cut off.
  • Every picture of an object has a description, and our films have captions.
  • Moving parts stop when your device asks for less motion.

3What does not work yet

We know about these three problems, and each one has a date to be fixed:

  • The ship plans from 1850 to 1900 are scanned images with no text version. By March 2027
  • The gallery map does not yet work with a screen reader. By January 2027
  • Two older event leaflets are PDF files that are hard to read aloud. By December 2026

4Visiting in person

Every gallery is step-free, with a passenger elevator to the upper deck and a hearing loop at the front desk. Wheelchairs and folding stools are free to borrow, and assistance dogs are always welcome. On the first Sunday of each month we open an hour early, with the sound turned down and the lights softer.

6How we tested

We checked the website ourselves in October 2026 against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA, using a keyboard, two screen readers and browser zoom. Three visitors who use assistive technology tested the ticket pages with us.
