Ivy Hart Photography · weddings in the Cotswolds

One day, three chapters.

I photograph the whole day, from the aisle to the dance floor. Here is what happens, and what you need to do: very little.

Before the day: a video call and a walk round your venue, about 2 hours in all

  1. A gouache painting of a wedding ceremony in a timber barn, guests seen from behind, the couple under an arch of white flowers

    Chapter one

    The ceremony

    1:00 pm · about 40 minutes

You: look at each other. Forget I am there.

I: work with two quiet cameras, no flash, from the back and the side aisle.

    80–120 photos of the ceremony

  2. A gouache painting of a newly married couple walking through a summer meadow at golden hour, her veil lifting in the breeze

    Chapter two

    Portraits

4:30 pm · 30 minutes at golden hour

You: slip away together for a short walk.

I: find the light and keep it easy. No stiff poses, I promise.

60 portraits of the two of you

  3. A gouache painting of an evening wedding party in a garden: festoon lights, long tables with candles and guests dancing

    Chapter three

    The party

7:30 pm · until an hour after the first dance

You: dance. Your friends will do the rest.

I: catch the speeches, the first dance, the cake and the sparklers.

    200 photos of the night
