The idea
a local history blog that reads like the paper it writes about. On warm newsprint, a masthead between a double rule and a thin rule: "Local history, one street at a time", today's date and the issue number, then "Old Town Notes" in heavy Fraunces and the six topics as a ruled row. Below, a lead story across two thirds with a red kicker, a big headline with "140 years" on a red double underline, one small picture of the shopfront with a caption, and the excerpt beside it. Two side stories sit behind a column rule, and a row of three closes the page, each with its kicker, headline, one-line excerpt, date and reading time. "Page 1 of 18 · Older notes →" under a double rule. Nothing moves: only link underlines.
Palette and fonts: newsprint, ink, letterpress red, warm grey rules · Fraunces 800 and 900 (headlines and excerpts), Libre Franklin (kickers and dates)
